I shall always be grateful that my wife and her mother shared Christian Science with me. Without a conscious effort on my part I was instantaneously healed of the desire for tobacco and of an alcoholic problem. I was healed by a power not my own, and it happened during my first reading of the Bible in conjunction with Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy. It was so miraculous that it was unbelievable and unacceptable to me as being permanent at that time.

The alcoholic problem was of such a serious nature that it could have caused physical harm, economic poverty, and destroyed our family harmony. It was and is a very humbling experience to be forced by a power not one's own to change one's beliefs and practices. This all happened twenty years ago, and there are many who can bear witness to my healings and their permanency.

From the beginning of my study of the Bible and the writings of Mrs. Eddy there have been joyful, daily healings of false thinking. As a result I have experienced increased good health and abundant supply and protection for myself and family. Is it any wonder that I began in earnest to seek to understand this power? Freely the gift of God had been received. Then the seeking to understand Him began.
