Words are inadequate to express my debt to God for all the blessings...

Words are inadequate to express my debt to God for all the blessings afforded by the study of the Christian Science textbook, Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy. The periodicals, lectures, church attendance, and the prayerful work of practitioners are also indeed practical aids in the understanding and demonstration of this Science.

Some time previous to a healing that took place two years ago a relative had been under medical care. During his illness, my understanding of Christian Science was strengthened. It was a shock to me when this dear relative suddenly passed on, and again I reiterated to my husband that should anything happen to me, I would want to rely radically on Christian Science. On page 167 of the textbook, Mrs. Eddy writes, "Only through radical reliance on Truth can scientific healing power be realized."

My husband, who is a student of Christian Science, but not a member, awoke one Sunday morning to find he could get no response when speaking to me. To all appearances I had completely lost my memory and was unable to converse with him or to recognize him. My husband, knowing I would always turn to God for help, telephoned a Christian Science practitioner, who said she would work for me immediately. About half an hour later I had an attack of what seemed to be epilepsy, although it was never diagnosed. Then I lapsed into a coma. The symptoms were very alarming, and my husband was sorely tempted to resort to material medicine, but instead he called the practitioner again. She said she would come to our home immediately.
