Am I Accepting Spiritual Discipline?
[For parents]
One of the most arresting questions today is the oft-voiced query "How can I reach my child and preserve an enduring relationship with him that includes discipline and respect as well as love and understanding?" Christian Science lived and demonstrated holds the answer to this question.
Mrs. Eddy says in her book The First Church of Christ, Scientist, and Miscellany: "All education is work. The thing most important is what we do, not what we say. God's open secret is seen through grace, truth, and love." My., p. 289; A parent's role is that of educator. He is required not only to establish the rules of behavior and conduct within the family but to see that these rules are obeyed and lived. This activity is called discipline. And discipline has a spiritual basis. It must be approached from this standpoint.
