Our Demonstration of True Business

Christian Science teaches that true business is activity carried on in accord with divine Principle. If a business is to be successful, it must be based on moral and spiritual qualities, such as integrity, love, uprightness, intelligence, and the like.

Mortals generally believe that the prosperity of a business is measured by the amount of money it can accumulate, its success by the profits it makes. Christian Science does not condemn money or the possession of worldly goods, provided they have been honestly acquired and the law of Love has not been violated. But it emphasizes that true riches are spiritual and can be gained only through growth in the understanding of God and His creation.

As we approach our business from the standpoint of expressing Godlike qualities, we do not try to get as much as we can in return for giving as little as possible. Rather, in our business relationships we give evidence of a full measure of the Christlike qualities of love, intelligence, gentleness, and consideration. The expression of God's qualities will cause our business to prosper, for obedience to the law of God brings success. The expression of the qualities of God is true business.
