When I was a teen-ager, a friend of my mother introduced her to Christian Science. I attended the Christian Science Sunday School until I was twenty. I later became a member of The Mother Church and a branch church.

It is with deepest gratitude that I relate a healing that took place last winter. I had a cough, and when the condition did not seem to respond to my own treatment in Christian Science, I asked help from a Christian Science practitioner. I felt the wonderful support at once, but the condition continued. I feel sure that if it had been diagnosed, it would have been called pneumonia. I could get very little sleep because I coughed continually, and what sleep I did get was in an almost upright position.

One particular night was the turning point. I was tempted to give up. I didn't see how I could continue in this fashion much longer. I turned my thoughts to God and tried to listen. Immediately my consciousness was filled with the seven synonyms of God as taught in Christian Science, and I fully realized for the first time how close God is to us. God being Life, Truth, Love, Soul, Spirit, Mind, and Principle, we can do absolutely nothing without expressing one of these synonyms; therefore even thing we do as ideas of God reflects God. God being All, there is no place for a sick mortal. From that time on the healing progressed until I was entirely free.
