Seeing God's Children

Parents, teachers, and indeed all adults need to know about and understand the basic characteristics of childhood. It is natural that children's interests and needs, as well as the stages of growth and the normal rate of development and progress to be expected as the child grows from infancy to adulthood, be freely discussed. But much of the current analysis on this subject is based upon the erroneous belief that life and intelligence exist in matter.

It is easy to have misgivings about some of the behavior predicted as normal according to these theories. But it is a privilege for those with an understanding of Christian Science to know that material theories predicting discord and danger are nothing more than theories. What joy and comfort it brings us to realize that such theories are based on misconceptions about the real nature of the child, not upon the facts of creation or upon the Principle which governs him!

It is rewarding to turn to the Bible and to the writings of Mrs. Eddy to determine the truth of our children, and, even more important, to hold this truth in consciousness as a sure guide in our relationships with them.
