My written testimony of the healing efficacy of Christian Science and of my gratitude for the privilege of having had this healing religion to rely on all my life is long overdue. Because we have always endeavored to know that God is protecting and directing us, our family have had few problems of a serious nature, but the following healing stands out in my mind as a cause for special gratitude.

During World War II, when my husband was in the service and my mother was visiting my toddler son and me, I opened the oven door one evening, intending to remove a baked potato. However, the gas, which had been on for over an hour, had never ignited, and the result was a flashing explosion directly in my face. I called to my mother, who immediately began declaring the unreality of accidents. Following a call to a Christian Science practitioner, all sense of pain left within an hour and I spent a restful night.

However, the next morning the picture was a very frightening one. Fear and discouragement had to be case out of my consciousness, and I shall never cease to be grateful to my dear mother, who seemed to be confronted with that ugly erroneous picture each day but could look serenely beyond it to God's child. Within a week my face was sufficiently cleared to make it possible for me to go out without embarrassment, and in just two or three additional days the healing was complete, with no signs of scars.
