"Who can be against us?"

The human mind is often contentious. It believes that someone or other is opposing it, trying to harm it, working against its interests. Mortal, material consciousness is a veritable battleground.

How can we gain rest from this turmoil? The answer lies in the teachings of Christian Science, which reveal the divine method of overcoming the discords of human existence. In accordance with the Scriptures this Science reveals the absolute allness of God, who is Mind, Love. It teaches that man, as God's image, cannot be separated from his Maker, that he must therefore express the nature of his divine source. Reasoning from this premise of the allness of God and of man as His expression, we see that there can be no mind or power to operate against this allness. Discerning these truths, Paul asked, "If God be for us, who can be against us?" Rom. 8:31; In the totality of being there is nothing going on but divine Love, and the providence of Love is to bless, not to harm.

As we gain an understanding of the allness of Mind, Love, it is seen that the ungodly, contentious thoughts of mortal mind, which have been parading as our own, are spurious mental suggestions, no part of our true consciousness. Claiming our oneness with divine Love, we can silence the suggestions of discord; and they cannot then disturb our God-given heritage of peace and harmony.
