At this season most of us are rejoicing at the retelling of our Saviour's birth. But too many of us are asking plaintively why, after 20 centuries, we still have wars, disasters, natural and man-made crimes, sickness and suffering.

Why has not the Kingdom of which he spoke come at least a little nearer reality?...
