The Pinewood Derby
[For children]
When Tom's father went away to Vietnam for a year, Tom missed him very much. But he was sure that God protects all His children and keeps them safe. So he knew Dad would be just as safe in Vietnam as right at home.
God is the Father of everyone. Tom knew that. It was nice to have God for his real Father; but, still, he didn't really see how this fact in Christian Science was going to be much of a blessing. There were some things he just couldn't do without Dad's help.
This was Tom's first year in Cub Scouts, and he missed his dad a lot at the pack meetings when everyone else's dad came. He never complained, though, because he knew Mother was trying hard to help.
