"My real sight"

[For children]

Hiking in the mountains with her family was not easy for Janet. But she knew it would be to her advantage to keep climbing. Sometimes the paths seemed so steep that she found it very hard to keep going upward. At times she was out of breath from climbing. Now and then her family sat down with her for a rest before going up further.

When Janet was the slowest hiker. her younger brother and sister, Mark and Susan, encouraged her to keep up with her mother and father. If Mark or Susan fell behind, Janet called, "Come on!"

She always knew that ahead of them was the splendid view from the mountaintop! Here they would sit down for a long rest to enjoy the wide and beautiful view. From the top Janet could see many hills and valleys in lovely shades of blue, brown, and green. She could see more mountaintops far off in the distance. The sky always seemed a deeper blue than before. Janet knew as she sat on the mountaintop that she was able to see so much beautiful scenery and such a large view because she had worked hard to climb up high on the mountain.
