"Christian Science takes naught from the perfection of God,...
"Christian Science takes naught from the perfection of God, but it ascribes to Him the entire glory" (Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy, p. 262).
A number of years ago my husband, who was not then a Christian Scientist, called for a man to come to our home to test his hearing. Our son, in the fifth grade at the time, became very much interested in the examination and wanted the salesman to test him. Jokingly I remarked that judging by the way he seemed never to hear me it would be a good idea.
The salesman tested the boy and with an odd expression on his face said: "Your husband needs a hearing aid, but not half as badly as your son. I would suggest you take him to a specialist immediately." This was a shock to us. We knew the boy was slow in school but never dreamed his hearing could be his trouble.
