Some years ago I began to suffer from severe pain in one breast, and external growths developed. I was so filled with fear of cancer when I went to a Christian Science practitioner that at first I would not even use the word. I asked the practitioner for assistance and did eventually voice my fear. He quieted it and gave me hope.

During the weeks that followed, the practitioner quoted often to me certain passages from the Christian Science textbook,"Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy. One reads (pp. 476, 477): "Jesus beheld in Science the perfect man, who appeared to him where sinning mortal man appears to mortals. In this perfect man the Saviour saw God's own likeness, and this correct view of man healed the sick." Another is (p. 261), "Hold thought steadfastly to the enduring, the good, and the true, and you will bring these into your experience proportionably to their occupancy of your thoughts."

Many passages from the Bible and other passages from Mrs. Eddy's writings were quoted and given to me for study.
