It is with a deep sense of gratitude to God for Mrs. Eddy and the truths she so unselfishly set down for mankind in her writings that I offer this testimony. When the belief of sickness seems slow to yield or an inharmony slow to adjust, I remember the following healing which occurred in our family about nine years ago and which proved to me without any reservations that the healing power of Truth is right where we are.

When I was a comparatively new student of Christian Science, and shortly after the passing of my husband, the local authority connected with the board of health of the county in which we lived visited me and asked that I consent to tests being made on my two children to prove they were not carriers of the disease with which their father had passed on. I consented to this request, as it was made plain that if I did not, my little boy, then in the second grade, would be taken from his class. I earnestly prayed to be led to do the right thing and take the orderly human footsteps necessary.

A practitioner was called in a distant city, and he assured me with such firm spiritual conviction that nothing could be transmitted from Father to son, from God to man, but good—and good only—that I was able to put the child in God's care. I then got in touch with the local doctor, who was very kind from the outset and he made the necessary arrangements to have the children tested and X-rayed. Later he advised me that my little girl was free from the disease but that the boy's lungs were seriously infected. Christian Science treatment was going on during this difficult time, and I was reluctant to accept this opinion on the matter. It was then decided to have the boy further examined by a specialist, and an appointment was made with another physician or two weeks later. With some human apprehension, but with the spiritual courage needed, I kept the appointment at the proper time, accompanied by a dear friend and the boy. After a thorough examination of my son by X ray, we were told that the boy's lungs were normal and sound, without any sign of disease. This healing had taken place during the two weeks we waited for the appointment. The child returned the following day to his class.
