NEW BIRTH
Awaiting the birth,
pondered deeply what my role would be;
In time telescoped I see generic man,
Issue of revelation's womanhood:
The child is free.
Old Testament conceived identity in embryo,
Receiving strength
In Sara's case to be delivered late
Of progeny presignifying
Birth of the Son of man.
But seed of Abraham
Sought to kill Mary's son
Who
Calling Lazarus forth
Himself
Gently emerged from tomb
And womb!
This child is free.
As Mary saw,
So must I see the child of Spirit:
No birth,
No death,
No parturition process
Ever or now.
In Spirit's way, a child of God is free.
