A Mental Stumbling Block Removed
The light of spiritual understanding is available to us whenever we sincerely and honestly pray to receive it. This truth has recently been the experience of the writer. The resurrection of Christ Jesus as chronicled in the Gospels had always been a stumbling block to him, resulting in a disturbed mental reaction. To explain Jesus' reappearance from the grave as a miracle only added to the confusion.
Apparently, proving the following statement of Mrs. Eddy's was necessary for his enlightenment. She says, "We are sometimes led to believe that darkness is as real as light; but Science affirms darkness to be only a mortal sense of the absence of light, at the coming of which darkness loses the appearance of reality." Science and Health, p. 215;
The desire persisted to find the underlying truth of Jesus' demonstration. And this desire demanded an understandable answer. Suddenly, out of the clear, the answer came, completely erasing from the writer's thought every vestige of doubt as to the authenticity and naturalness of Jesus' reappearing after his crucifixion. Clear as a bell, this message declared that until we see individual man as immortal we lack the basic understanding which heals the sick. The Science of healing rests upon the fact that as the child of God man is spiritual, perfect, and immortal.
