Spiritual Baptism Essential
Is baptism practiced in Christian Science? This question was asked by a woman who was becoming interested in this religion through observing its healing and redemptive power in the experience of a neighbor.
The reply was an unequivocal Yes. Christian Science is Christian; it follows the teachings of the Master, Christ Jesus. It acknowledges the importance of baptism in Jesus' ministry and emulates the example of spiritual baptism as an absolute essential in healing.
To baptize is to purify or cleanse. Everyone who seeks healing needs this purification. But it is not a ritual performed with water. It is a purification or spiritualization of thought in preparation for the coming of the healing Christ, Truth, to human consciousness.
