Being Lifted Up

One is lifted above the mist of material sense and begins to behold himself as the son of God when in some measure he overcomes the belief of life in matter and claims for himself spiritual reality. This lifting up process is not brought about through any physical force or human will but through the unfoldment of God—divine Life, Truth, and Love. It is the result of a constant and continual realization of man's at-one-ment with God, the source of true being. As stated in our textbook, Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy, "Man is idea, the image, of Love; he is not physique." Science and Health, p. 475;

In Christian Science one learns not to think of himself as a physical being but to know himself as he really is—the idea of God, governed and controlled by divine Principle, Love. Every hour of the day, every instant of the day, one must claim his real being.

The refusal to accept error as real helps one to behold himself as God's image and likeness. Error takes many forms to deceive us into believing that it is real, but, as in mathematics, no matter how many times an error presents itself to us as true, it is never true. The state of consciousness which refuses to accept error in any form as real and accepts only that which is good as real is lifted up to behold the presence and power of God.
