Reading the textbook, Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy, cured...
Reading the textbook. Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy, cured me of smoking. This was about twenty-seven years ago, and I was not then even a student of Christian Science. At the time of the healing, no thought whatsoever about overcoming this strongly entrenched enslavement of many years' standing entered my thinking, for it seemed at that time to be the only material comfort I had in an otherwise miserable existence.
As I commenced reading Science and Health, I was looking, searching, for the way out of an agony of self-recrimination, uncertainty, economic depression, and fear in regard to supply for my wife and baby.
At first, the inspiring, challenging, uplifting, and exhilarating words of our dear Leader made little impression on my Truthresisting, gloomy, and foreboding mental disposition. But error could not stand up to the power and might of divine Mind. I did not know that at the time.
