In Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy we read on page 361, As a drop of water is one with the ocean, a ray of light one with the sun, even so God and man, Father and son, are one in being." God is the only cause of all existence and the preserver of this existence.

Through the study of Christian Science I have learned that God's law expresses perfection. Thus there is no place for accident, inharmony, or sorrow, for God's law is the law of joy and harmony. It is the law of safety and supply. Holiness fulfills the law of God. Therefore only a clear, pure spiritual consciousness can fully enjoy the presence of God and His protection.

Many years ago in the middle of the night I was awakened by a crackling sound, and rushing to the window I saw blazing high a pillar of fire which the wind was blowing swiftly along the cedar hedge of a nearby piece of land leading to the cedar hedge of my garden. I declared immediately: I must now stand fast.
