My gratitude is profound for...
My gratitude is profound for the spiritual light I have received and the many healings I have experienced since beginning the study of Christian Science a little more than thirty years ago.
The healing of the habit of smoking, which I indulged in heavily, is cause for deep and humble gratitude. I made many attempts to overcome this habit, but would turn again to it and succumb to its temptation of satisfaction in matter. However, one day I was pondering these words of Mrs. Eddy on page 456 of Science and Health: "Truth does the work, and you must both understand and abide by the divine Principle of your demonstration."
I saw very clearly that so long as I considered that the habit belonged to me, there would be a struggle. The truth that there is no bad habit in Principle and that in reality this habit had never belonged to me because I am a spiritual idea freed me instantaneously, and I have not smoked in the many years which have passed since then.
