I did not seek Christian Science...
I did not seek Christian Science for the healing of bodily ailments, but many years ago I heard the words "Christian Science" mentioned for the first time by a man I knew. He had an acquaintance who, although prosperous and in excellent health, was always complaining and feeling sorry for herself. He said, "What she really needs is Christian Science."
A few years later it so happened that through various circumstances I was discontented with life and was most unhappy. I was led to seek Christian Science and to study it.
As a young girl I was extremely timid and bashful. Meeting people whom I had never met before made me feel quite uneasy. I never felt happy in a big crowd because I imagined everybody was looking at me, which often made me want to hide myself somewhere so that I could go unobserved. I struggled to get over this disheartening characteristic, but without avail.
