In Ephesians we read (2:8)...
In Ephesians we read (2:8), "By grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God." It is with unspeakable gratitude and joy and with a desire to share God's gift that I am writing this testimony.
I always wanted to be good and to do good, but I was never successful. I had searched for God and for the reason for my existence in various orthodox and non-Christian religions; and finding no satisfaction there, I had turned to philosophy, which also offered no practical solution or peace. Finally, in complete resignation, I became an agnostic; and, hoping to alleviate some of the human suffering that seemed so prevalent, I became a medical nurse.
At this time I met and married a Christian Scientist. Although I was very much impressed by the many kind and good qualities this dear one expressed, I did not attribute them to his religion. In fact, I never doubted that he would eventually give it up. Early in my marriage I did try to read the Christian Science textbook, Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy, but I gave it up as being incomprehensible.
