The Reverend Roy Griggs
as reported in "Teen-agers Urged
to Fight Conformance with Society"
The Decatur Herald
Decatur, Illinois
The Rev. Roy Griggs, pastor of the First Christian Church of Canton, Missouri, told more than 200 teen-age youths ... to fight society's urge to conform, and advised them to retain their identity. He spoke in his keynote address for the Mid-Winter Christian Youth Fellowship meeting at the Central Christian Church.
"We are content to conform to society and just be average, because then we aren't open to critic ism or controversy," the Rev. Mr. Griggs said.
