In 1924 I became acquainted...
In 1924 I became acquainted with Christian Science. I was suffering at that time from a severe mental and physical breakdown, caused by a heart neurosis, and I spent my days almost entirely on the couch. My husband, on the advice of our family doctor, consulted a very wellknown nerve specialist, and I was for a long time under his care.
The suffering, however, did not lessen, not even when I sought help from various other nerve specialists. Thereupon we were advised that I should go to a sanatorium for a prolonged stay. My despair was great. It was our family doctor who then advised me to turn to Christian Science, because in his practice he had seen several healings through it which he considered bordered on miracles.
I immediately went to a practitioner. Even in his waiting room a pleasant peace surrounded me, and then when the practitioner spoke to me of the truths of being in a kind, calm manner, it was as if a great burden had fallen from me. I felt so joyful and strong that I walked all the way home, by no means a short walk, and did not experience the ill effects I had previously experienced in going even short distances.
