One day a friend, recognizing my need, asked me if I had ever read The Christian Science Monitor. I replied in an offhand manner that I had not. My friend knew that I was having medical attention and was despondent over my physical condition. She spoke to me of the outstanding qualities of the Monitor and also touched on Christian Science, of which I knew nothing. Her words created in me a desire to learn more of this religion, and I visited a practitioner.

After our talk, the practitioner directed me to a Christian Science Reading Room where I could purchase a copy of the textbook. Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy. She said to me, "This is the best investment you will ever make," and so it has proved to be.

I shall never forget the feeling of peace that came over me as I stood in the study room, and thus began my pathway from sense to Soul. Healing did not come quickly; but I felt greatly assured that I would be freed from the difficulties I was experiencing, and as I continued to study I endeavored to place the desire to learn more of God first rather than the desire to be healed. I studied late into the night and every possible moment I could find during the day, so eager was I to imbibe the truth. For the work of different practitioners who so willingly supported me through prayer during this period, I am grateful.
