A few years ago a serious illness...
A few years ago a serious illness came upon me. I was unable to walk steadily and had to be assisted by friends. My vision was affected, and I lost weight rapidly, although my appetite was good,
I was a student of Christian Science at the time, but I had more of the letter than the spirit. And since the friend in whose house I lived was out all day and I was alone, and since I had been losing consciousness for periods and had had a lapse of memory, I agreed to the recommendation that I should go into hospital.
On my arrival there, a woman doctor took charge of me and was most kind. After a few weeks' exploratory work she told me I had a serious case of pernicious anemia and needed injections. She also said that my condition was incurable and that unless I continued the injections and special diet, I would pass on.
