Activities for the Armed Services

An informal group of Christian Scientists has held services for many years at the United States Naval Station, Guantanamo Bay, Cuba. In recent months the group has made significant progress. Inspired by an increased interest in Christian Science, an improved sense of Church, and a greater desire to serve the naval community more effectively, the group moved its services to a larger meeting place.

Immediately the regular attendants recognized the need to beautify the new location. One of them built a wooden screen to conceal bookshelves from the congregation. Plaques with suitable inscriptions were hung on this screen, and a desk was constructed for the Readers.

The Christian Science Representative in the Armed Services then received permission to have a "study table" in the station library. On this he placed a Bible and a copy of Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy with the current Lesson-Sermon marked, a Christian Science Quarterly, and other items. The arrangement was interesting and attractive.
