"They that wait upon the Lord...

"They that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint" (Isa. 40:31). Over thirty years ago these words were quoted to me, and I was told with the greatest assurance that if I accepted the truth therein and studied the Bible and the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures'" by Mary Baker Eddy, I could be made well in spite of a verdict of incurability by a nerve specialist.

At this time I was despondent and had little desire to live if it meant being a burden to my family and society. One day a new friend, the same age as I was, invited me to attend a Christian Science Sunday School. There was so much love in her voice that I accepted.

Had she not been with me, I would not have gone in because of my physical appearance. I was completely fearful of entering where there were so many people. But no one shunned me. Instead, they welcomed me with love, and I knew I had found one place I felt secure in. I looked forward to the sessions and soon discontinued walking down dark alleys as I had done because of my fear that I would have a nervous attack and be seen by someone.
