Our Textbook Appeals to "honest seekers for Truth"

Mary Baker Eddy, the author of our textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," ends its Preface with these words (p xii): "In the spirit of Christ's charity,—as one who 'hopeth all things, endureth all things,' and is joyful to bear consolation to the sorrowing and healing to the sick—she commits these pages to honest seekers for Truth."

Church members around the globe are writing of their experiences in offering sincere seekers for Truth, God, the opportunity to read our textbook. Their letters show that a great many people willingly accept Science and Health and read it with interest. Reviews of a few letters follow.

A Frenchwoman, who is now a member, found Christian Science more than thirty-eight years ago. As she studied it, employees in the government office where she worked noticed a change in her. Some of them began coming to her home for encouragement and comfort, and they have continued to come. She lends them copies of the textbook, and in turn the majority of them lend the books to others. A chief inspector for the English language in secondary schools told her after reading the copy that she had lent him, "Never before have I had the good fortune to read a book in English which has such a clear and pure style, with ideas of such grandeur and nobility that one is obliged to ponder them."
