My interest in Christian Science...

My interest in Christian Science began with my attendance at a Christian Science lecture. I was left with two young children when I was twenty, with no training for the business world and no means of making a living. Through the study of Christian Science, I was directed to take up a training that enabled me to make a living and provide a home for my children and myself.

Supply was forthcoming when I sought spiritual ideas, and I received great comfort from a statement of Mrs. Eddy on page 307 of "Miscellaneous Writings." She says, "God gives you His spiritual ideas, and in turn, they give you daily supplies." This has always been a great inspiration to me, and I have proved it to be true.

But at one time, when I was still a new student of Christian Science, I felt a great sense of responsibility and a concern for supply, and I became worried and mentally depressed. The subject of the Lesson-Sermon for the week, set out in the Quarterly, was "God the Preserver of Man." These verses from the Bible brought healing to me (I Pet. 5: 6, 7): "Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time: casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you." I never again suffered from fear or depression in regard to supply.
