RADIO PROGRAM No. 71 - What About Your Future?

HOST: We're living in an age of tremendous achievements. We've smashed barriers of time and space. We've built a higher standard of living than the world has ever known. But many people are haunted by a feeling their life is empty, without meaning or purpose —the husband who thinks he's on a treadmill, the wife who feels her life is pointless, the teen-ager who lacks motivation.

In his book "Kill and Overkill," the nuclear physicist. Dr. Ralph E. Lapp, describes such feelings as one of the leading problems calling for attention today. He says: "A spirit of helpless bafflement, almost of despair, seems to have settled upon the people. ... They live in daily dread not only of man-created tensions but also of the frightening advance of technology." He also says: "More than anything else, the world needs a restoration of man's faith in himself as an individual—the confidence that he is the master of his destiny." [Basic Books, Inc..
