Prior to my becoming acquainted...

Prior to my becoming acquainted with Christian Science, some forty-odd years ago, the Bible was indeed a very strange book to me. I never had it in my hand and did not believe in it.

When I entered a Christian Science church for the first time, my eyes rested on a wall inscription of a Bible verse, "In the way of righteousness is life; and in the pathway thereof there is no death" (Prov. 12:28). Other Bible words I retained, which were read from the desk, are, "If therefore thine eye be single, thy whole body shall be full of light" (Matt. 6:22). These two statements made a lasting impression, and what I gained from the service proved to be the beginning that is helping me to dissolve in my human experience the dualism of good and evil, of Spirit and matter, of Life and death, of reality and unreality, and soon.

Thoughtful reading of the authorized Christian Science literature and of its inspired textbook, together with the other writings by our Leader, revealed supreme logic, pure reason, consistency, and perfect coordination. It opened my understanding to a new and certain realization of such words as infinite, allness, oneness, omniscience, omnipresence and omnipotence.
