Structure and Church
Much thought is given today to structure. We are concerned about the tax structure, the social structure, the structure of the body, the structure of the atom, the structure of the universe.
The goal of finding a universal structure including substance and force and life in all its forms is before the thought of many engaged in research. But, from a material standpoint, this seems to grow farther and farther away, for the more one knows, the more one discovers there is to know. A more powerful telescope reveals many more stars, but it also multiplies the evidence of unknown space, which can be presumed to contain more stars and galaxies and clusters of galaxies presently unknowable by astronomical methods.
In Christian Science we learn that infinite Truth can be understood spiritually. On page 124 of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," Mrs. Eddy writes, "The universe, like man, is to be interpreted by Science from its divine Principle, God, and then it can be understood; but when explained on the basis of physical sense and represented as subject to growth, maturity, and decay, the universe, like man, is, and must continue to be, an enigma."
