Over thirty years ago when my husband and I returned to Europe after living for a few years in Malaya, I found myself suffering from a distressing intestinal condition accompanied by frequent attacks of pain and giddiness. I became very thin; and though I consulted doctors in Switzerland, France, and England, the condition persisted, and eventually I found myself in a hospital for tropical diseases. Here the difficulty was diagnosed as tropical sprue.

I remained in bed in the hospital for two months, receiving every care and attention that medical skill could provide, and there was considerable improvement. However, I was then discharged with the warning that no permanent cure was possible and that I must always follow a rigid diet.

After about five years of this I became interested in Christian Science. I was not expecting a physical healing, but rather seeking a more satisfying religion. To my joy I found both. After reading the first few chapters of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, I felt and knew I was healed, but I could not say how or when the healing had taken place.
