I was reared in the Christian Science Sunday School, which I attended until I was twenty, and I had many healings through the efforts of my mother and practitioners. However, it was not until I was married and our first child was born with an unsightly eye condition that I turned to Christian Science wholeheartedly.
The condition persisted for almost a year, sometimes almost clearing up, but returning again and again to be handled metaphysically through the prayers of a patient and loving practitioner. During that time I experienced much spiritual growth, and I joined The Mother Church and a branch church.
Well-meaning relatives, during a holiday visit with us, prevailed upon me to take the child to an eye specialist. The doctor tried three different prescriptions and then recommended an operation to close the weeping tear duct. When the word "operation" was voiced, I silently and vehemently declared that there is only one real operation, and that is the activity of God, divine Mind.
