I should like to express my gratitude...

I should like to express my gratitude for the fact that I was reared in a Christian Science home and for the privilege of attending a Christian Science Sunday School in various cities for a period of eight years. From the great number of healings and blessings I have had, I should like to relate one in the hope that it may help others.

In the spring of 1956 I was preparing for my final examination at a business school. One day I felt a pain, which steadily grew worse, in the lower part of my right arm. Writing, and particularly shorthand writing, which I had to practice for the examination, became increasingly difficult. In my class four or five of the girls had been afflicted with inflammation of the tendons and had been obliged to wear their right arms in slings for a long time. I had admitted the picture of their suffering into my consciousness and had not rejected it in any way, nor had I done any prayerful protective work for myself.

I tried to overcome the condition through intensive study of the current Lesson-Sermon, outlined in the Quarterly, and of the articles in The Herald of Christian Science (German Edition). But there was no improvement, and the nearer the examination day, the more fearful I became. I must add that I had not told anyone about the difficulty, for I knew that by so doing I would be making the error seem real.
