Although I was brought up in the Christian Science Sunday School from the time I was a young child, I did not appreciate Science until I was a married woman with a family.

My first real proof of its healing efficacy came when our second child developed a running eye. Six weeks passed, but the condition continued. My husband decided that we should see a doctor. As I had been studying Science for many years without applying and proving its truths, I thought this would be an opportunity for testing it. So I asked him to let me call a friend who was a Christian Scientist to help us. We did, and the next day, as the result of her prayers, the eye was normal. I have considered that first proof a milestone in my growth in Science.

Both our children attended the Christian Science Sunday School. Our first child loved the truths taught there and was happy when attending. The second child, however, seemed to fight attendance every step of the way. However, I knew it was right that she should attend and felt that she could not come home with anything but good. I offered her a Bible and a copy of Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy many times, but each time she refused even to accept them. Finally I told her that if she ever wanted the books she was to let me know.
