While I had known of Christian Science for a number of years, I had ignored it. However, the time came when it seemed necessary to have an operation for piles, and Christian Science was then presented to me as an alternative to surgery. With the help of a Christian Science practitioner the condition was permanently healed within a few days.

As I continued the study of Christian Science I was healed of the need for wearing glasses which I had worn for reading and for close work. And I was also able to stop using arch supports and corrective shoes. I have enjoyed many hours of hiking, as well as the wearing of shoes with high heels. There was no specific prayerful work done for either of these difficulties; but as I attempted to practice what I was learning of the truth, the need of material aids disappeared.

I have been freed from social drinking through my study of Christian Science, and the smoking habit of over sixteen years' standing disappeared when I found I sincerely desired to join The Mother Church.
