The Teen-ager and Christian Science

[Of Special Interest to Young People]

Is there a conflict between being a normal, active teen-ager and putting into practice the teachings of Christian Science? Thousands of boys and girls know from firsthand experience that there is not. Far from depriving anyone of happiness and achievement, Christian Science shows us how to gain the good that actually and already belongs to man, the beloved child of God.

There is not a single activity in our everyday affairs in which the truths of Christian Science are not of immediate and practical help, whether we are working on an experiment in a school chemistry laboratory, learning to drive an automobile, going out with friends on a date, or making plans for college or for a career. Perhaps we have been accustomed to think of Science as mostly concerned with the healing of sickness and injury. If so, we need to expand our view. For we can rely with confidence on a spiritual understanding of God for the solution of every kind of problem.

The effect of Christian Science is to free us from whatever is limiting. It offers us a practical, spiritual basis for demonstrating not only health, but also other essential qualities, such as intelligence, true beauty, joy, purity, and love. What we learn now at home and in Sunday School about working out from the right standpoint our school problems, our relationships with other boys and girls, and our plans for the future provides a solid basis for happy homes and useful and rewarding careers in the years ahead.
