Divine Metaphysics

The term "divine metaphysics" properly applies to Christian Science, and the value of this Science is in its practical approach to disease and other human discords, not from a physical but from a metaphysical standpoint—a standpoint above and beyond the physical. In divine metaphysics, Spirit is recognized as real substance, and matter is seen to be a false sense of substance.

A Christian Science practitioner is skilled in the art of healing. He is a metaphysician. The medical practitioner or physician deals principally with observable phenomena. The metaphysician is concerned with spiritual causation. He depends upon an understanding of spiritual laws to meet humanity's need for well-being.

Acquaintance with physical laws would be of no value in his healing work. In fact, to try to combine a knowledge of physical laws or natural processes with an understanding of spiritual laws would take one out of Christian Science and into the realm of some speculative philosophy.
