I wish to express my gratitude...

I wish to express my gratitude to God for Christian Science and for the many blessings that have come to me and my family. Although I came from a religious home, I was not satisfied with what I had been taught and could not understand why healing was not accomplished today as it was in Jesus' time. Then in 1931 I was confined to bed because of a serious lung condition. A specialist had pronounced my case incurable.

Reservations had been made for me in a western city, because I had been told that the warmer climate would be helpful. I had two small daughters and my husband to live for, and I did not want to leave them. Thus I turned wholeheartedly to God in prayer to guide me and show me what I should do.

In a short time a friend, who was the wife of the minister of the orthodox church to which I belonged, came to call on me. She talked with me about my condition, and after a while she took a book, which she had hidden underneath her coat, and gave it to me to read. She told me that it would help me. It was the Christian Science textbook, Science and Health by Mary Baker Eddy.
