"WHOSE SHALL THOSE THINGS BE?"

Christ Jesus in one of his parables speaks of a man whose crops were so abundant that he had no place to store them. He proposed to tear down his barns and to build greater ones in which to store his fruits and goods. His purpose was then to live in ease. But we read (Luke 12:20), "God said unto him, Thou fool, this night thy soul shall be required of thee: then whose shall those things be, which thou hast provided?"

In this question, "Whose shall those things be?" is much food for thought. Is it not a clear declaration that material things are insubstantial, that they do not constitute a part of our enduring riches? On the other hand, spiritual assets are eternal.

Every true quality or idea which we have at this very moment, Christian Science affirms, remains with us throughout eternity and is not in any respect affected by the false beliefs of a beginning or an end to existence.
