The scope for Christian Science in West Derby became evident in August, 1927, when a small group of Christian Scientists began holding regular services in a small rented hall. The new venture received much encouragement from friends in neighbouring branch Churches of Christ, Scientist, some of whom presented Readers' desks and other equipment....
The congregation speedily outgrew the original hall and within nine months removed to larger premises provided rent-free by one of the founder-members. Within a few months, however, even this increased accommodation became inadequate, but structural alterations undertaken after much prayerful work enlarged the capacity....
