I have had many proofs of God's tender, loving care through the application of Christian Science. Christ Jesus said (John 8:32), "Ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free."

The truth healed me of the smoking habit. The help of a Christian Science practitioner was requested, and I was asked if I wanted to advance in Christian Science. My reply was that I did. These words from Genesis came to my thought (1:26): "And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth." I knew that God had given me dominion over the belief that tobacco had power to hold me in bondage, and I was set free.

One day one of my daughters came home and told me that her sister had been hit by a car. She said that when she saw the car hit her sister, she immediately repeated "the scientific statement of being" from page 468 of Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy.
