For more than twenty years Christian Science has been my only physician. I have been healed of chronic constipation, headaches, and warts on my hands. Early in my experience in Christian Science, smoking and social drinking were overcome through the daily study of the Bible Lessons in the Christian Science Quarterly and through an earnest desire to put into practice what I was reading. The false desires simply dropped away without a struggle.

Criticism of others was much harder for me to overcome. The Biblical account of Daniel, who "purposed in his heart that he would not defile himself with the portion of the king's meat" (Dan. 1:8), was a great help to me. Each morning I resolved to let no critical thought defile the harmony of my day's work, and I prayed that I might see my brother man aright. Finally the habit of criticism was overcome.

Through the understanding of the allness of God and of man's inseparable relation to Him as taught in Christian Science, I have experienced many proofs of God's divine guidance and protection. While traveling by train to my annual association meeting I spent a fruitful day studying the Bible as well as Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy. I retired that night with a clear assurance of God's over-presence.
