ARE YOU SATISFIED?

Christian Scientists have glimpsed something of the true nature of God's creation and the enduring satisfaction of spiritual living. They can testify to the truth of Mary Baker Eddy's statement (Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, p. 60), "Soul has infinite resources with which to bless mankind, and happiness would be more readily attained and would be more secure in our keeping, if sought in Soul." Referring to so-called material pleasures, our Leader writes on the following page, "The senses confer no real enjoyment"

In the first chapter of Genesis we read that God looked upon His universe and recognized it as "very good." He was satisfied with His work. Since God is the only creator, it is the privilege and duty of everyone to maintain consistently each day that in his real being as a perfect idea of God he is complete and satisfied. In an article entitled "Choose Ye" in "The First Church of Christ, Scientist, and Miscellany," our Leader, Mrs. Eddy, writes (p. 5), "Wholly apart from this mortal dream, this illusion and delusion of sense, Christian Science comes to reveal man as God's image, His idea, coexistent with Him—God giving all and man having all that God gives."

In this divine union of Spirit and its idea we find no covetousness, no unsatisfied desires, no mad ambition, but divine completeness, joy, and spiritual satisfaction. As we recognize and acknowledge these facts, our thoughts are lifted above the mere contemplation of and desire for material things and pleasures. In place of these we find true satisfaction and enjoyment in the infinite resources of Soul.
