I feel it is time to put into...
I feel it is time to put into writing my gratitude to our heavenly Father for the many healings and blessings I have received through Christian Science and to our Leader, Mrs. Eddy, for giving us the textbook. Science and Health, which has indeed been the key to the Bible for me.
Over thirty-four years ago, before I heard of Christian Science, I had for many years had attacks of appendicitis, and one day when the pain was very severe I called on a doctor, who said I should have an operation at once. My husband advised me to see a specialist, and he confirmed what the doctor had said and asked me to see him again in a few days.
I did not do so, because I met a friend who told me of a wonderful healing she had had in Christian Science. I bought the textbook and read the Lesson-Sermon in the Christian Science Quarterly daily, and regularly attended a Church of Christ, Scientist. The attacks continued for some time, and then one day I realized that I was healed. The healing has been permanent.
For years I had suffered from bilious attacks, and during the First World War, while doing Red Cross work, I had one of these attacks. I had attended the Christian Science church only a few times, but knew from the testimonies I had heard that healing was the result of earnest, sincere prayer to God. I asked to be relieved of the work and went away to commune with our heavenly Father. To my great surprise and joy, within fifteen minutes I was perfectly tree from pain and sickness and was able to carry on the work with the others.
Soon afterwards I was healed of insomnia when I turned to God for help. The angel message which helped me was from John (14:27): "Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid." For the first time I realized the "peace of God, which," as Paul said, "passeth all understanding" (Phil. 4:7). On another occasion I was healed of resentment when I thought of the words of Christ Jesus to his disciples (John 21:22), "What is that to thee? follow thou me."
I am grateful to our Leader for the Christian Science Hymnal, for the Lesson-Sermons, and also grateful for the periodicals. I am indeed grateful for what this beautiful truth, Christian Science, is doing for the whole world.—(Mrs.) Jessie Meek, Manly, New South Wales, Australia.
