"THE LIGHT OF EVER-PRESENT LOVE"

"Divine Science, the Word of God, saith to the darkness upon the face of error, 'God is All-in-all,' and the light of ever-present Love illumines the universe." writes Mary Baker Eddy on page 503 of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures."

How immediate was the result of this "light of ever-present Love" as reflected by Christ Jesus in his ministry of healing! Blindness, dumbness, leprosy, melted away as mist before sunshine. They could not remain in the presence of the Christ. Sin could not persist when its lawlessness was exposed by the penetrating light of Spirit. Mary Magdalene was set free from sin when, in this reflected light, she recognized Christ, Truth, the impersonal Saviour. Death, too, was overcome by Jesus on more than one occasion when his understanding of "the light of ever-present Love," which is also Life, pierced the clouds of sense testimony. Finally he himself proved the nothingness of this lie against Life eternal in his resurrection and ascension.

It is through the understanding of the Christ, Truth, that healing takes place in Christian Science. God. Mind, is All-in-all and says to error, "You are nothing." There is no place for nothingness in allness. The ever-presence of infinite Love excludes the claim to the presence of pain or inharmony of any kind. The all-knowing Mind cannot be cognizant of a so-called mind saying, "I am sick, unhappy, alone." Neither does all-pervading Spirit admit the possibility of material substance as formation, for all that really exists is the emanation of the divine nature, the effect of one perfect cause.
