After attending a Christian Science lecture some seventeen years ago, I began to read the textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, and this reading has completely changed my life. From the first day ills that I had accepted as inseparable companions began to disappear, and with each physical healing I have found that some faulty trait of character has disappeared too. Constant headaches which years of doctoring had not relieved vanished as soon as I learned that the child of God need never be afraid. When the first step was taken to correct ill temper, nervous indigestion disappeared at once; when self-love and self-pity began to yield to an unselfish desire to help others, the effects of a severe breakdown also melted away. These healings and many others have been permanent.

I am grateful for protection in traveling; for freedom from such difficulties as burns and cuts, which often used to harass me; for happiness and progress in daily work; for an increasing sense of harmony in the home and in society. I am deeply grateful for membership in The Mother Church and in one of its branches and for the privilege of service therein.

I should also like to add a word of thanks for the Christian Science periodicals, which are like welcome showers of rain, bringing food and drink to thirsty hearts so that spiritual understanding may unfold and bear fruit. I find the daily reading of The Christian Science Monitor particularly helpful because it gives me an unshakable conviction of the omnipotence of good.
